EXPLORE STEAM FAIR

 

 

 

 

 

 

The South Valley Science and Engineering Initiative (SVSEI) will host our third annual FREE, family friendly, hands-on EXPLORE STEAM FAIR on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Live Oak High School in the SMALL GYM from 11am-2pm.The fun science, technology, engineering art, and math (STEAM) based activities are geared for TK-12th grade students - with adults welcome to participate too!

 

What can you expect at EXPLORE'26? Twenty-five activity booths, hosted by 22 activity partners composed of representatives from 12 Morgan Hill Unified School District campuses, plus community organizations, school clubs, city entities, CTE and private school educators, technologists, and nonprofits.

What will there be to do? Have STEAM fun with the following:

  • Robotics -drivable, coding, drawing, maze running​

  • Scribblebots

  • Keva planks

  • Merge EDU cubes

  • Resin and sand art, gold foiling, glitter planets, critter in a capsule

  • 3D printing

  • Watershed modeling, vermicomposting, and interactive SW sorting

  • Balloon hovercrafts

  • Arduino circuitry builds

  • Air powered rockets

  • Straw rockets

  • Whirligigs

  • Coding

  • Coloring

  • Crocheting

  • Floating boats challenge and smelling test

  • Solar ovens

  • Battery circuitry, marshmallow towers, and straw flutes

  • Hot Wheels Speedometry

  • Interactive computer game

  • Density tubes and cellular respiration labs

  • UV beads and potting native plants

                 and more!​

While EXPLORE is FREE, we'd appreciate your preregistration at Eventbrite so we can make sure we have enough materials for all our fairgoers. Of course, walk-ins are always welcome.

The South Valley Science and Engineering Initiative (SVSEI) hosted our second annual free, family friendly, hands-on, EXPLORE  STEAM  FAIR on March 1, 2025, from 10AM-2PM at Britton Middle School's Student Union Building. Over 225  kids and adults played and learned about science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) from 21 booth partners with the help of 57 volunteers to provid 25 fun activities geared for pre-K to 12th grade students - with adults participating too!

​2024  EXPLORE  STEAM  FAIR
 On August 4, 2024, fair, SVSEI held its inaugural EXPLORE  STEAM  FAIR.  Over 100 community members enjoyed    playing and learning about science, technology, engineering,  art, and math (STEAM) with the following activities: ​

  • Soldering for robotics

  • Reverse engineering

  • Making a thaumatrope

  • Vacuum forming

  • Stormwater pollution prevention activities 

  • Cubelets

  • 2D, 3D, and 2D art with 3D elements

  •  Quilting

  • Paper rockets

  • Wheel of Fortune

  • 3D printing pens​​​​​
